SILVIA MEI

 

Silvia Mei is a painter from Sardinia, year 1985. After the graduation in 2009 at the Accademia di belle Arti in Sassari, she moved to Milan to attend at the Accademia of Brera, which she is finishing. Between 2010/2013 she is finalist in different important Prizes such as Premio Celeste (second classification) and Italian Factory. She participated in different group shows such as Arte Accessibile, or to Antonio Colombo Gallery or Fabbrica Borroni. And solo shows such as Ad Mirabilia, Reincarnati in natura, e Different Identities.
Mei's works represent a double ways between a strong primitive impact into the composition shape and colors, in opposite to a natural and accurate research for details. There is a strong and touchable structure in every work where human figures are the main characters, often painted in couple or in familiar groups, represented on big white papers.

"I think about spontaneity which goes with a childish sincerity: my work is a kind of return to the past, (instinct) with a conscience to the present... sometimes decline became illness, deformity or malaise, physical and also interior, which usually I use as revenge or auto-punition. Color has the main role in my works, together with the human and nature".
